Security Solutions Provider, G4S Wackenhut, Releases Video Guide to H1N1 Flu Safety Business Continuity Plan Includes Employee Education, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Business Continuity Plan Includes Employee Education, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (November 05, 2009)

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's leading security solutions provider, G4S Wackenhut, continues its proactive measures to keep employees healthy by releasing a video guide to flu prevention and safety. This update, targeted at the company's 40,000 security personnel across the country, addresses H1N1 and seasonal flu symptoms, proper precautions, as well as business continuity plans. The video will be delivered to local offices on DVD. G4S Wackenhut employees and clients may also access the streaming video at www.getG4Snow.com/h1n1.

G4S Wackenhut began taking steps to prepare its employees and clients when novel "H1N1" influenza was first recognized in April 2009. Since then, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic in June 2009 and President Obama declared a national emergency in October 2009.

According to Chuck Brock, G4S Wackenhut's Vice President of Strategic Account Operations, vigilance is key to the company's regular business contingency planning, stating, "Our clients depend on us to protect their facilities, products and employees, so our team actively plans for any contingency, including the public health emergency our country is facing today."

Overseeing pandemic contingency planning for G4S Wackenhut is Director of Safety and Health, Frank Knapfel. "Since April, we have released monthly updates to our local offices and employees, prompting them to prepare for an early--and possibly severe--flu season," states Knapfel. "In addition to preparing our business for the outbreak, we want all of our employees to be vigilant. This video update ensures that our security officers know how to recognize flu symptoms and prevent the spread of the virus."

Besides employee education, client outreach and regular communications updates, G4S Wackenhut has Business Continuity Plans in place for its headquarters as well as its over 110+ local offices. Part of the company's planning includes accumulating enough Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all of its security personnel. "When used properly, personal protective equipment can help prevent the spread of infection from one person to another," Knapfel explains. "If the outbreak continues and government agencies recommend masks or other protective equipment, we are prepared to respond."
